ترکیب پیاله ای که درهم پیوست

بشکستن آن روا نمیدارد مست
besh’kas’ta’ne ân ra’vâ ne’mi’dâ’rad mast
چندین سر و پاي نازنین از سر و دست
chan’din sa’ro pâ’ye nâ’za’nin az sa’ro dast
از مهر که پیوست و به کین که شکست
az meh’re ke pey’vas’to be ki’ne ke she’kast
Translation:
Then said a Second—”Ne’er a peevish Boy
Would break the Bowl from which he drank in joy;
And He that with his hand the Vessel made
Will surely not in after Wrath destroy.”
Quatrain No. 15
چون عمر به سر رسد چه شیرین و چه تلخ
chon omr be sar ra’sad che shi’ri’no che talkh
پیمانه چو پر شود چه بغداد و چه بلخ
pey’mâ’ne cho por sha’vad che bagh’dâ’do che balkh
می نوش که بعد از من و تو ماه بسی
mey nush ke baˆd az ma’no to mâh ba’si
از سلخ به غرّه آید از غرّه به سلخ
az salkh be ghor’re â’yad az ghor’re be salkh

Whether at Naishapur or Babylon,
Whether the Cup with sweet or bitter run,
The Wine of Life keeps oozing drop by drop,
The Leaves of Life keep falling one by one.

این قافله عمر عجب میگذرد
in ghâ’fe’le’ye omr a’jab mi’go’za’rad
دریاب دمی که با طرب میگذرد

پیش آر پیاله را که شب میگذرد

A Moment’s Halt—a momentary taste
Of BEING from the Well amid the Waste—

zân pish ke bar sa’rat sha’bi’khun â’rand
فرمای که تا باده گلگون آرند

تو زر نئی اي غافل نادان که ترا
to zar ne’i ey ghâ’fe’le nâ’dân ke to’râ
در خاك نهند و باز بیرون آرند
dar khâk ne’han’do bâz bi’run â’rand

And those who husbanded the Golden grain,
And those who flung it to the winds like Rain,
Alike to no such aureate Earth are turn’d
As, buried once, Men want dug up again.

یاران چو به اتفاق دیدار کنید
yâ’rân cho be et’te’fâgh di’dâr ko’nid
باید که ز دوست یاد بسیار کنید
